The world's top two aircraft manufacturers have called for a delay in the introduction of 5G technology in the United States. Top executives of Boeing and Airbus have also written a letter to the authorities in this regard. Both companies fear that 5G technology will have a devastating effect on the aviation industry. They fear that the C-band spectrum of 5G Wireless could interfere with the operation of the aircraft's equipment. Boeing chief Dave Calhoun and Airbus chief Jeffrey Knittel wrote in their letter that "5G could disrupt the safe operation of aircraft." They also cited data from a study by the business organization Airlines for America. It said that if the FAA's 5G policy 2019 is introduced, about 345,000 passenger flights and 5,400 cargo flights will be canceled or delayed. US telecom giants AT&T and Verizon will launch 5G services across the country from January 5.
